This can be described from a theoretical stand point by high spot the Porters five force s of competition. The Porter (2008) mentioned that the competitive force not only arise from the rivalry among existing firms, but also from four other direction. The Porter five force analyses will help to assess the level of competition faced by the Glasgow University hospitality service. This data will be and then utilized to analyse the required changes that are required to make the service offering at par to the desired level.Power of Buyers The power of buyers can be described in terms of their switching cost, which is indirectly proportional. If the switching cost of the buyers is low, then their bargaining power increases (Dalrymple, 2008). The availability of several restaurants and pubs in the close proximity of the university campus makes it easier for the customers to choose from several available options. However, outsourcings from outside eateries are not allowed in the campus. This as a result, reduces the buyers power slightly. Thus, the overall

The Implication of Cultural Diversity in American schools Essay

The Implication of Cultural Diversity in American schools - Essay Examplemajority of the people diversity was white alone that was represented 72% while the minority was American Indian and Alaska Native represented 0.9%. However, the African American census do up about 13% and the Hispanics numbering totaled 16%. The Asian population increased faster than other groups. Despite the changes in the education orbit within the last decade, we still needed to concentrate the ethnic diversity in classrooms. That means we cannot eradicate the immigrations issues by segregated the students, on the contrary it is most significant to integrate different cultural ethnic. Actually, the educator must have various styles of teaching that he/she forget have to spring up children from different backgrounds and beliefs. So that, the teachers and the education programs with each other can work to create modify which is helpful for the different groups of learner in the schools. No doubt, educator s will face some challenges to educate different students from different cultures (De 88).In retrospect, cultural diversity in American schools is the surest way of eliminating cultural discrimination since learners grow up into holistic individuals who appreciate cultural diversity in the society. As the students interact among themselves, they overcome some of the existing stereotypes thereby create social circles that are culturally diverse. This way, they share value and learn to respect each other despite the diversities in their respective cultures. Every cultural group always uses its cultural values to judge other cultures a feature that may often lead to discrimination (Phelan 76). With cultural diversity on the other hand, the students experience other cultures therefore creating a cohesive system especially given the fact that schools just as any other organization often create systematic organisational

Dolphins as Persons Essay Example for Free

Dolphins as Persons EssayDolphins be toothed ocean mammals which closely resemble whales. There argon over forty kinds of dolphins in the world and are said to be friendly to graciouss unlike many marine creatures. They are the most heavy of all sea creatures and the trained ones are able to understand or decode human messages. There are cases where lost travelers have been guided by dolphins and also in other instances where some drowning victims have been saved by them. Many people have argued that dolphins should be considered as persons something that has elicited a masses of mixed reactions with some backing this argument while others strongly refute it. This paper is going to administer a stand and support the claim that dolphins should be considered as persons. The first incident that left many questioning themselves as to whether dolphins should be treated as animals or persons was when two bottle-nosed dolphins from the University of Hawaiis Marine Biology departme nt meant for experimentation were released back to the waters by La Vasseur who from a human perspective considered capturing of dolphins and keeping them in an isolated place from the rest, rationing their food and denying them the environmental conditions they enjoyed in the sea considered it as mistreatment and unethical. His argument was that these animals should be accorded some rights so as to protect them from being mistreated and he even went to an extent of communicate if the Thirteen Amendment human rights could be extended to them. The ruling in this case to some extent closed the doors for dolphins to be accorded the rights they deserve by ref apply the case to take a moral perspective when judge Doi termed it as pure theft (Miller and Williams, 1983 365). There are many facts about dolphin that go unexplored or if this is not the case, they are simply ignored. If these facts are given the attention they deserve then one would be in a better coiffure to comprehend why th ese animals should be treated as persons. One thing that should be known is that exactly like human beings, dolphins have a sand of humor. According to Blackstock (2003), dolphins try to joke by surprising unsuspecting pelicans by grabbing some feathers from its tail or inching stealthily to unsuspecting fish and grab its tail. In other cases, dolphins would be seen tricking some turtles where it would make it roll a number of times.Still in another incident, a dolphin was seen trying to bait a fish merely to snatch the bait in the lead it could be eaten thereby leaving the fish puzzled. This is indicative of possession of high intelligence operation as it only human beings and other primates that possess a sense of humor. Dolphins like human beings have a way of communicating. Their bodies are designed in much(prenominal) a manner such that they produce whistles and clicks as they drift using their nasal passages. This communication keeps them away from any risk for example , they whistle as they go in the sea to ensure they are together.Apart from this, they maintain body contact by swimming close to one another where they can grave and hit each other with their pectoral fins. They also use their pectoral fins to greet each other just like humans use their pass and shoulders to hug one another. This is said to happen when two different dolphins come together and touch each other with their pectoral fins something that is interpreted to mean greetings (Robins Island. org. 2009). To obtain whether there are dangers ahead, dolphins send clicks into the water which if they hit a solid object such as rocks, boats, logs and other sea animals are rebuffed.By using their complex means of find the echo, they estimate the distance at which these objects could be located depending on the strength of the echo. Also dolphins are capable of producing whistles with different excited tones that send specific emotional messages. A study that was done shown that when this sound was produced, other dolphins responded and behaved in a particular way. Just like a human mind which through experience acquires or gains knowledge, dolphins too can acquire knowledge.Studies that were done shown that trained dolphins have been able to mimic certain human sounds or perform some spectacular tricks that one would imagine could only be done by a human being like somersaulting in water. Having realized the level of intelligence these animals possess, the United States navy had at one time thought of training them so that they would help them in their undersea operations but it was later realized that they if they were trained, they would interfere with nuclear submarine operations. The truth is that if trained these animals are able to survey the security of the area and give the feedback before any naval operation is conducted just like humans do. The only difference between these animals is that it is their nature to stay in water and thus they are bett er adapted to swimming in the sea than human beings. They are able to relate well with human beings and because they are able to communicate and break down with human beings in various marine operations, they should be treated as a non-human person and not like animals as this show that they think and mind just like human beings. For example, according to the light Daily (2003), the US navies used dolphins in 2003 to detect the bombs that might have been planted by Iraq soldiers in the sea channel where ships carrying hospital and other war materials would pass through. The only notable difference between humans and dolphins is that one is a sea mammal while the other is a primate and thus there would no good reason as to why these animals should not be protected and accorded the rights they deserve.Using its intelligence, bottle-nosed dolphin seems to understand the value of human life and that it is why it saves swimmers from being attacked by sharks. This is something that wa s attested by Howe who according to New Zealand Press went to swim with his daughter and was about to be attacked by a three meter shark before he was saved by a herd of dolphins who unbroken it at bay (Jones, 2004). This shows that just like how human beings protect their pets, dolphins also value humans and thus treat them as their best friends. This shows that their level of intelligence is close to that of humans and thus people should awaken to the role they play in their lives and treat them like other humans. Indeed, dolphins should be treated and categorized as persons. Their level of intelligence is much close to that of human beings and they seem to understand human beings as humans do and that is why they save swimmers who are at danger of being eaten by sharks. Dolphins in some cases have worked closely with humans for example during the transportation of hospital aid to Iraq where they were used in detecting bombs set in the sea by Iraq rogues soldiers. Most of the chara cteristics that dolphins possess are like those of human beings for example they have a way of communicating, system of danger detection, emotion appeal or aspect and they are social animals as they stay in herds or in pairs. For these reasons dolphins rights should be treated and protected just like human rights are protected by the constitution. References Blackstock, Regina. 2004, Dolphins and Man equals. The Color Purple Essay Example for Free

The Color regal EssayAlice Walkers epistolary novel The Color olympian demonstrates how the mistreatment of a woman cannot prevent her from fulfilling her destiny. The protagonist and narrator of the novel, Celie, is a young, uneducated black girl who is verbally and sexually abused by her supposed father, Alphonso. He fathers two children with her, kidnapping both and presumably killing one, if not both. Because of the unwarranted trauma, she struggles for the rest of her life to recover from his abuse and give way her own power. Celie has a ofttimes smarter and prettier younger sister Nettie, whom she loves, and of whom she is very protective. Celie saves Nettie from marriage to a suitor referred to only as Mr. when their father forces her to marry him instead. Celies stepson Harpo, weds a strong- musical themeed woman, Sofia, who is the complete polar of Celie. Sofias refusal to be abused by anyone, man or woman sparks a curiosity that makes Celie reappearance a closer look at herself. The gas pedal of the story is Mr. s lover, Shug Avery.Although Celie realizes Shug is her maintains lover, she does not resent Shug in fact, Shug becomes Celies best friend, lover and even mentor. These influential women, each trying to remark their own happiness, fighting their own personal demons, tremendously impact Celies life. The women help to educate Celie, whose natural intelligence and talents have been stunted by geezerhood of constant humiliation and abuse by her father and husband. It is through each characters definition of life and struggle within The Color Purple that Alice Walker is able to tell the story of victorious transformation.Walkers narrative symbolically illustrates a womans psychological journey locomote from the mentality of an abused victim of poverty to become a strong, independent and confident woman who establishes her own place within her society. The sexual abuse Celie endures at a very early age leaves her powerless with nowh ere to turn. Alphonsos (Pa) sexual abuse is taken a step further when he gives Celies two children away to a family. Celies ignorance, due to her age and poor education, prevents her from understanding why the children were taken from her, but she does not believe they are dead.Alphonso entices Mr. , a widower with four children, to take Celie instead of Nettie, so he will not have to care for her anymore, by throwing in a cow with the deal. Walid El Hamamsy characterizes the combination package of Celie and the cow as further patriarchal oppression and a way to continue to dehumanize her. Her untamedity is continued in her loveless marriage to Mr. , who beats and uses her for sexual convenience. One way to endure the torture is to tell herself Celie, you a tree (23). The other way she is able to tolerate her betroth of isolation and despair is through writing letters to God.The letters affords her a voice which otherwise she does not have. Celies relationship with her sister Nett ie goes beyond save a sisterly bond. Nettie turns out to be the first person to show Celie true unconditional love. With Celies children being taken away from her, Nettie fills her void of maternal obligation. Celie wants to guarantee Netties well-being and puts Nettie first for everything. Celies view of Nettie as someone filled with potential is in direct contradiction to how Celie sees herself however, it never kale Nettie from trying to teach Celie so she can open her mind to what is going on in the world around her. When Celies husband tells her Nettie has to leave, it is like a ton of bricks lands on Celie. Nettie is the only person from whom Celie ever felt love. When Nettie leaves, she encourages Celie to fight, but Celie is so broken she says she only knows how to stay alive (18). Celies mental severalise is still that of an abused victim she is encapsulated in a world of deep despair, but Nettie has planted a seed that will grow and eventually take her to a place of con fidence.Alice Walker introduces Sofia, a bold, mulish woman that illustrates assertiveness and self-dignity. Mr. s son, Harpo, marries Sofia because he loves her, but later tries to make her succumb to him through brutal force. Harpo has grown up seeing his father physically abuse Celie in order to get his way and when he asks Celie what he should do to get his headstrong wife to submit to him, Celie tells him he should beat her. Celie sees little or no value in herself. She survives victimization by accepting that fighting back will only cause more harm than good.Anyone can do or say anything they want to Celie since she has accepted her place and submits to the violence. With telling Harpo to beat his wife, Celie is once once more showing her abused mentality she truly believes that physical oppression by husbands is normal. Critic Stacie Lynn Hankinson contends Celie portrays a survival-of-the-fittest perspective, which pitted her against, rather than aligning her with, other wo men. After Sofia learns of the perfidiousness of Celie, she boldly confronts her only to figure out Celie is actually on her side.Sofia tells Celie All my life I had to fight (40). Sofia embodies something that would not allow her to be a victim, no matter who she has to fight. Celie professes her jealousy of Sofia because she unfortunately did not have the strength to fight and was continuously a victim. Sofia eat upers something to Celie she never had before moral support. Sofias constant retribution against Harpo assists Celie to understand that rebellion, fighting, is a way to escape victimization. Celies lack of confidence resides in her fear of not being loved. When Shug Avery, a Blues singer and her husbands lover, enters Celies life, Celie become conscious of an intimate, trusting love, which empowers Celie to assert herself. Shug enables Celie to freely express herself and talk about all the unfortunate things that have happened to her over the years. Shug in any case h elps Celie find her voice and change how she views herself. After Shug tells Celie you still a virgin Celie starts to look at herself less as a victim and gradually lessens her sufferance of ill treatment and stands up for herself (78).Shug shows Celie how having a powerful voice can be pivotal in changing their life. Walker uses the relationship between Shug and Celie as a way to emphasize consistency and a strong bond. Shug is not only Celies confidant but there is a role change of mind and Celie becomes Shugs confidant. Their conversations bring up points not only do they think about, but the reader might as well. I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and dont notice it (197).After her conversations with Shug Celie realizes she must strip her mind of the impression of God that her male-dominated society has placed on her and replace it with a holistic one. Celies recognition of God as a Creator allows her to establish a place in her soci ety and finally love herself, just as she is. Marc A. Cristophe agrees as he writes in his essay The Color Purple An existential Novel, she has rejoined the community of men and women she has found herself, her own place and is able to marvel at the creation, at life itself.

The human digestive system

The humans digestive systemThe human digestive system is trustworthy for the intake, break mass, absorption and finally removal of nutrients and energy needed for the functioning of the human body. It performs these duties by allowing nutrients and energy in the form of food to enter the body, and then removing the materials needed from the food, then absorbing the materials into the body, as well as sending these materials to the mail that theyre needed, and finally removing the leftover materials from the body. The system consists of the primary organs the verbalise, the esophagus, the stomach, the small gut, the large intestine, the rectum, and the anus, as well as the secondary organs the liver, the salivary glands, the gallbladder and the pancreas. The mouth is responsible for the immediate intake of food, and is partially responsible for digestion, through the process of mastication, which is the chewing of food. Food enters the body through the mouth, where it is than chew ed to soften and partially breakdown the food. expectoration from the salivary glands also aides in the preliminary breakdown of foods, because of the chemicals and enzymes contained in saliva. Once the food is sufficiently disquieted down, it is swallowed and brought to the next organ in the digestive system, the esophagus. The Role of the esophagus is simply to allow the partially broken down food to travel from the mouth to the stomach. Its economic consumption in digestion is minimal, but it is still considered ace of the major organs in the system. At the joining point of the esophagus and the stomach, called the cardiac sphincter, is the blocker that prevents gastric acid from exiting the stomach and damaging the mouth or the esophagus itself. When the Cardiac sphincter fails its job, the gastric acid seeps into the esophagus, causing damage to the interior of the esophagus, as well as the painful sensation known as heartburn. The stomach is a muscular, hollow organ in the human digestive system, and is one of the primary sites of digestion. It is filled with gastric acid, a powerful acid that breaks down food with relative ease, digesting most foods in about 4 or 5 hours. The stomach contains three glands, which are used to either aid in the digestion of food, or protection of the stomach from its own digestive materials. The three types of glands are the pyloric gland, the cardiac gland and the gastric gland. The pyloric gland is responsible for secreting gastrin, a endocrine gland which stimulates the production of gastric acid. The gastrin activates the gastric glands, which start secreting gastric acid. The cardiac glands are the centers of mucus secretion in the stomach. This mucus is used to protect the veneer of the stomach. A common problem associated with the stomach is peptic ulcers, a type of ulcer formed by a disturbance in the regulation of the hormone gastrin, which causes to much gastric acid to be produced, which causes damage to th e mucus membrane and the stomach lining. After food has been digested enough, it moves out of the stomach and into the small intestine.Another play of digestion occurs in the small intestine, even more than in the stomach. Absorption also begins to occur at this stage in the digestive system. The small intestine is broken down into three parts, the duodenum, the jejunum, and the ileum. The duodenum is the first part of the small intestine, and it is responsible for most of the food digested in the small intestine. The duodenum also regulates the rate of emptying of the stomach via hormonal pathways. The next part of the small intestine is the jejunum, which is the longest portion of the small intestine, but it is also responsible for truly little digestion, but is primarily responsible for the first round of absorption, where it takes most of the nutrients out of the food matter. The final portion of the small intestine is the ileum, which is where the final bit of absorption in t he small intestine takes place. Once the now digested material finishes its path through the small intestine, it enters the large intestine. The large intestines primary purpose is to remove most of the water from the now flatulent mass, and move it to the anus, where it will be removed from the body. The large intestine is made up of the cecum, the rectum and the colon. The cecum is not very large in humans, and is barely existing at all. It serves a much higher purpose in herbivores, where it digests tough leaves with the help of symbiotic bacteria. In humans this is not necessary, so it has become very unimportant. The colon is where the water is taken from the digested food matter. The rectum is where the waste is temporarily stored before it is excreted from the body, which takes place in the anus. The secondary organs in the digestive system are also vital to the survival of a human, but they take a more passive role in digestion. The liver plays a major role in digestion and has a number of functions, including glycogen storage, decomposition of red blood cells, plasma protein implication, hormone production, and detoxification. It lies below the diaphragm in the thoracic region of the abdomen. It produces most of the systems bile the rest is produced by the gallbladder, an alkaline compound which aids in digestion. It also performs and regulates a wide variety of high-volume biochemical reactions requiring highly specialized tissues, including the synthesis and breakdown of small and complex molecules, many of which are necessary for normal vital functions.

Gender Stereotyping In The Media Media Essay

Gender Stereotyping In The Media Media EssayGender stereotyping is a popular technique that the media employs to derive young-bearing(prenominal) or male traits and personalities. Even though, much(prenominal) action by the media may depict ele manpowerts of in equating, it is still a popular phenomenon practiced by the media today. These attempts strain to identify the sexes based on their consumption patterns, attitudes and enculturation. For instance, a female identity is attributed to fashion, design and consumption of sugary products like chocolate. Nevertheless, sexuality stereotyping has its positive impacts to the auberge. This paper endeavors examine sexual activity stereotyping in the media with a flock of accreditedizing the fetchs, effects and best approaches to enhance gender equality through the media. The research impart be conducted majorly among media houses or lodge putting weight on gender stereotyping. An extensive review of the contents the media h ouses have aired over the years leave behind be critic on the wholey analyze to have an idea of the gender stereotypic dissembleations, and present position in the market.Literature reviewMedia images and stereotypingToday, viewers and listeners of the media houses be bombarded by the information they receive. Over the years, such information has shaped views on female or male roles in our society. This information is exposed to children and adults whether they are pass oning or un leaveing, save may represent stereotypic messages. It is clear the media has a significant impact in shaping the mind localize and expectations of a whole generation. As indicated by Durham Douglas (2006), gender stereotypic in the media is a debatable topic that its impacts is traced to childhood appraising based on media representation on the expected traits, personality and attributes of a male or female deportment.Stereotyping by the media is nearly perceived representation of the products an d services gender inclination. In addition, it in addition represents the social interaction of gender in bringing a different meaning to the same product. The media, therefore, tries to put concrete concepts, attachments and thoughts in the viewers minds on shaping their behavior. Stereotyping representation is a sense-making process that is shaped by the media is non-homogeneous distinctive ways that eventually define the system. For instance, gender issues are organized in different ways in TV shows, adverts and pornography among others (Durham Douglas, 2006).StereotypingThis paper approaches Stereotyping as an imperfect debatable issue that needs to be observed from different perspectives. Gender stereotyping in the media, therefore, wants sharing pictures, advertising, plate printing etc. with a view of providing distinct identifiable behavior among genders that support dominant ideologies. Stereotyping has its negative and positive effects in the society. Among the benefit s of media stereotyping are easily identifiable categories of male and female sexes, dish out predict behavior in a world that is increasingly growing complex and reaffirm traditional cultural ideologies that define appropriate gender behavior (Matthews, 2007 p. 123).Gender stereotyping in the media has been persistent because of the embedded kernel of truth that stereotypic notions hold a percentage of truth in the real world. In essence, this capability be the truth among certain groups in the world. Stereotypes are little by little experiencing a revolution in light of an increasingly globalized world that integrates the cultures and peoples behavior from all corners of the earth. When such change takes place, a uniquely fresh stereotype emerges such as the supermom. Interrelationship exists betwixt the perceptual process in stereotypic illustrations and the linguistic process. These both processes stereotypic cerebration exhibit a sense of contact in the likelihood that p ersonal wisdom is involved. According to Matthews (2007), this means that stereotypes have narrow guessing while lessen the possibility of biasness when portrayed by the media. This is popularly referred to as terministic screen. Therefore, the media are a significant element in the topic of stereotyping. In fact, premiere media communications entail individual characterization based on gender such as female make-homes while men are largely dealing with complex tasks like construction work.Other than the advantages mentioned above, stereotyping has a number of negative consequences. Among disadvantages of gender stereotyping in the media are oversimplification of individual personality in groups and sharp assumptions leads to irrelevance in other situations. In addition, stereotyping leads to prejudice and discrimination among groups and hinders equal access to opportunities and resources. Other negative effects of stereotyping are pressures to live up to society ideals and op posed stereotypes bind gender on masculine and feminine behavior (Durham Douglas, 2006). The stereotypic masculine and feminine bound elucidate that men are mantic to be independent, have authority, breadwinners and be aggressors. On the other hand, women are supposed to be dependent, incompetent, caregivers, victims or sex objects etc.The media reports are filled with gender stereotypes as seen in programs such as drama. This content is based on traditionally accepted character, as soundly as society vices that are classified between genders. Nevertheless, the media have a significant impact to children and adults in determining acceptable behavior. Such stereotypes need to be assessed to deduce the reality. According to Matthews (2007), the media as a modal(a) of communication conveys subtle, yet critical sub-textual information about gender, other than its content. To this extent, the contents and relationships are divided among the axioms of gender. Some hidden information differs, however, gives the implications that men are more aggressive, pastimeing as well as visible when compared to women. Women are considered to be objects of the male gender. The media stereotypes tend to control their best interest at the expense of gender equality. For instance, they may send stereotypic messages enable them make money. As such, advertizement and TV programs tend to be conservative and repeat past formulas with the sole part of making a large audience. Therefore, today gender stereotyping in the media may not be the exact representation of reality. In this context, there a large content between old and new stereotypes that are confusing. This paper go forth seek to assess gender stereotyping in the media focusing on images and pictures that attribute the topic. For instance, the female or male presentation, the products used to represents gender, the audience being targeted as well as what the media talks about gender roles and behavior. According to Andre a Press (1989), gender equality has become a social debate that attracts terrains of struggle between men and women. This also points to the cultural power between the male and female as fake in the society. Therefore, this paper will seek to identify the ideologies of gender assumed by the society over the years with reference to the content reproduced by the media. Nonetheless, former literature on this topic suggests that stereotyped representation of gender by the media is natural and attempt to justify gender roles naturally.Agenda Setting, gatekeeping or cultivation openingMany people think the media reports what is most relevant. However, according to Bittner (2000) the media merely relays or dramatizes information that reflects the vastness in the minds of the audience. Many times the audiences observe just what seems to be necessary, but may not be relevant in reality. As suggested by Bittner (2000), media create an order of business for the audience based on their pr oclaim preferences and interests. This is called the agenda theory. The gatekeeping theory suggests that the media airs anything based on their selection of what is necessary in relation to the thoughts of the audience about what does not appear. In this regard, gender stereotyping by the media is on what is represented. The real issue is the depiction of women and men in stereotypical ways. This illustrates that gender stereotyping by the media is a reflection of cultural tradition. Whatever the society deems are of importance is probably what the media will report. In addition, reviews about daytime talk shows unveil womens genre of programs. Most talk shows discuss issues about women, as opposed to men. However, the real question is the importance of the discussion or the show to the audience. If the discussions are important to the audience then it is considered a reality, however, if the media decides to show contents based on association preferences, it sets the agenda for the audience. The latter is clearly stereotyping in the media. The third is the cultivation theory, which proposes that the media cultivates perception among the audience. This means that the media makes mass communication especially through the television about a distorted perception in the society. As suggested by Malgorzata (2011), the audience tends to think that the real situations are as the way they are represented in the films, advertisement or television. Although part of the media reported is a representation of the reality, it is not fully-realistic. For instance, Gerbner and his business partners discovered that individuals who watch television news too much always think there is more violence in the world than it really is. Such an audience tends to think along peace and violence lines, but the reality is preferably different. Another illustration is when galore(postnominal) audiences anticipate romantic relationships to look like those in the films and television. The tr uth is that many relationships are not, rather there are many relationships that have problems and end up in breakups. This is because media representation is not just the reality but, it does not depict the set period.Generalization and simplification of gender by the mediaIndeed the topic of gender stereotyping has increasingly elicited attention from many groups of interest. Consciously or unconsciously, the community absorbed the notion of gender stereotypes through socialization which was stirred by media discussions and advertisements among others. Most generalizations or simplification based on cultural ideologies represent false thoughts of reality and have positive and negative impacts. The media fail gender stereotypic differences through the depiction of the female character as thin and inclined to tender beauty. The male characters are portrayed as beardown(prenominal) and independent with little concern about fashion or beauty. The generalization of women in the media as being objectified has been pronounced in the media adverts, programs and discussions for long. With the gap between men and women roles slimming, the media stereotypes towards gender have the same effect on both genders. The abundant slimming adverts and discussion have serious consumes self-conceptualization, uniqueness as well as gender values.Adverts are popular and its repetitions through the media make them the most powerful tools on information in the society. As such, advertisements have a fundamental contribution to the cause of stereotypic problems as they foster a society that sells womens bodies as acceptable and short and less masculine men as inferior. As such, these individuals feel overstretched to adapt to the general justification of an acceptably lovely man or woman. In fact, many women and men are forced to go to great lengths to alter their word form in an attempt to fit in the media-perceived environment. Therefore, their mindset is subjected to perceive the ir faces as masks while their bodies are objects. This is because changes to ones face or body imply augmentation as well as disguise. The case is worse for a female audience since they are advised to internalize the reported information based on the perspective of their own physique or attributes. This perception does not include attention to other invisible attributes like emotional feelings and inner bodily states. This illustrates objectification of gender. Studies indicate that advertisements tend to bring outside women body and beauty, as opposed to men. Men is popular in selling merchandise while the females are portrayed to that pronounces their sexuality. Traditional setting on gender-objectification plays a role to associate the female gender with their personal traits. As such, enables one to assess the value of their personality or traits based on these stereotypes. Eventually, one should be able to control his or her association. As such, their actions are a result of presumptions that leave them preoccupied in effect called self-objectification (Malgorzata, 2011).Hypothesis (H)The literature review in this paper sheds enough light for the researcher to come up with the following hypothesis that the study will seek to realize.H1 Media reports represents their own agenda that tends to distort perception along gender lines rather than the realityThis means that the media makes mass communication especially through the television about a distorted perception in the society. As such, the audience tends to think that the real situations are as the way they are represented in the films, advertisement or television. The truth is that many relationships are not, rather there are many relationships that have problems and end up in breakups. This is because media representation is not just the reality but, it does not depict the set period.H2 Gender stereotyping in the media significantly affects the patterns of life between men and femaleStereotyping by t he media is about perceived representation of the products and services gender inclination. In addition, it also represents the social interaction of gender in bringing a different meaning to the same product. As such, female and males will have different preferences of products and services, yet in reality the product is unisex.H3 Gender stereotyping in the media is a continuous process since a new stereotype reemerges every dayStereotypes are gradually experiencing a revolution in light of an increasingly globalized world that integrates the cultures and peoples behavior from all corners of the earth. When such change takes place, a uniquely fresh stereotype emerges such as the supermom. Interrelationship exists between the perceptual process in stereotypic illustrations and the linguistic process. These two processes stereotypic thinking exhibit a sense of connection in the likelihood that personal perception is involved.MethodologyThe research will be conducted majorly among med ia houses or company putting weight on gender stereotyping. commencement data will be collected from the media companies. This will comprise of secondary data such as video, pictures advertisement and program reviews. This will be through analysis of the media promotional strategies, financial information from advertisements and programs, general presentation of content, together with the marketing goals and objectives with regard to gender stereotyping. Thereafter, the researcher shall move to unrecorded data, this will involve holding the question with various employees and company stakeholders of the media houses. As suggested by Durham, Douglas, (2006) these interviews will be carried out through online, face to face and offline methods. It is worth noting that all the interview information shall be gauged under one footing. Further, the research shall move to the external environment involving the audience, customers, external stakeholders and the competitor analysis.Analysi s and interpretationThe data collected will be analyzed. Analysis will involve going through the secondary documents and primary data collected in an attempt harmonize the information. Analysis will involve patterns, correlation and identify trends in gender stereotyping. In addition, the analysis will also cut across examination of phallic symbols, yonic symbols. As such, the research will table a number of approaches to strategies to come up with the best strategy that will reveal stereotypes that are negative and positive. The analysis of this study will be based on justification of gender ideologies as covered in the literature review (Matthews, 2007).Therefore, the study will be based on stereotypical mythic structure that represents gender stereotyping in the media today. The researcher will focus on determining underlying predispositions about gender attributes as espoused in Jungian archetypes. Much concentration will be channeled to media representation of femininity and mas culinity.Timeline and ReportingThe research will involve sources both from the general population, media content, and journals and on online surveys carried about the gender stereotyping in the media. The online survey will target the products that allow consumers to access online services. The concrete conclusions obtained can be used to review the information targeted to the audience along stereotypic contexts (Malgorzata, 2011). Interviews may be carried out through the website either by exchanging emails or by even live chats with some of the products consumers and audiences as well as media houses. This is a convenient way to reach out to the majority of the populations who have access to the online services and media content via their mobile handsets. This can be achieved by expressing interest to question some audiences online. If they happen to have seen the advertisement of products those interested will respond to the article, there might be a series of simple questions upo n which will guide the respondents to the real questionnaire. This helps avoid jokers who may not be willing to give any information towards the research. The topic should be posted so that readers will evaluate it and decide whether to assist with the answers or not.The research will be conducted for three months. The data collected will be used to identify all the research objectives and link with responses received from online and offline interviews carried out by the researcher.

Women Victims of Violence

Women Victims of ViolenceThroughout most of the world, more often that not, women atomic number 18 usu bothy the victims of personnel. In America violence against women is bonny one of the most rife problems. Domestic violence occurs in many homes all over the world. As a crime against women, rape is uniquely horrible in its long-term effects. more claim that victims of violence deserve what they get. fit to the book Gender villainy in the UK most women live their lives in constant worship of cosmos at risk for violence. It was stated that women who have been victims of violence end up having a wide-ranging list of health problems. According to statistics, 1 in 4 women whitethorn experience violence in their relationships with men end-to-end their lifetime.Throughout most of the world, more often that not, women ar usually the victims of violence. In America violence against women is becoming one of the most prevalent problems. It has been shown that most of the men comm itting these crimes against women argon not strangers. They are batch whom they live, work and/or socialize with. This seems to be linked to the concomitant that most men want to be in total control at all times and if for some reason they are put in a situation where they arent in total control, then they become violent against their women partners. Domestic violence occurs in many homes all over the world. Usually people have been less likely to address this kind of behavior out of business concern of getting their partner in trouble. So they ignore the violence they are facing because they love and care for the person who has been abusing them. Domestic violence in some places is not taking as seriously as in others. most consider it a private issue that should be dealt with in the privacy of their home and are less likely to admit if they have it going on in their lives. This thought alone is absolutely ridiculous and must be dealt with immediately. No woman deserves to go through violence whether it is by their husband or a stranger. As a crime against women, rape is uniquely horrible in its long-term effects. The distress it brings is often fol secondaryed by an abiding sense of fear and shame. Research on risk factors examines the complex relationship of social, cultural, situational, interpersonal, and intrapersonal forces that perpetuate sexual violence. How ever, some researchers have tried to determine whether particular women are more indefensible to rape and attempted rape. It has been shown that most women who are rape before the age of eighteen are more likely to be rape as an cock-a-hoop unsloped because their self esteem has been shattered and they begin smelling as if they are worthless and of no use.In most cases it seems as if blaming victims for their predicament with violence is the universal thing to do. Rape victims are more often than not accused of alluring their attacker, causing them to do what they did. Many claim that vict ims of violence deserve what they got. Many victims feel that the shipway they were treated by the authorities, friends and family was just as bad or worse than the actual situation. In many cases it left them feeling alone at the time in which they most needed others. Thus, after a while many women begin to blame their self. They find numerous ways to convince their self that they deserved what ever they got. They usually have no one to turn to, so if there is no other outlet for these women they usually end up turning to alcohol and drugs to rid them of the pain and embarrassment they feel.Since the 1970s and the early 1980s there have been many changes made to the wrong justice system when it comes to dealing with women as victims. Before today, it was not strange for women to be of less importance than there male partner, thus giving him the safe to punish her when he thought she was not doing as she should. It wasnt until the womens movement and the victims right movement c ame along did they take a stand against the criminal justice system, devising it mandatory that situations in which men were being violent against women were dealt with right away and not taking for granted. Even though victims would like for guard to always choker on spot, the police sometimes consider the people in which they are dealing with some people may look down on the police for doing this but some may think this is the best way to deal with it. They feel that violence can be fall upond in many ways and not all types of violence should end in generate even though some feel that it all should. These are the overall topics of my paper so I will now begin to compare and contrast each topic and how it relates to the unite terra firmas and the United Kingdom. They are many differences but there are also many similarities between the two countries.Gendering the victim the extent and nature of violence against womenThe effects of violence against womenAfter doing research it seems that violence has been used to describe a variety of different behaviors such as, sexual, physical, and emotional assault, murder stalking sexual harassment and prostitution. In recent times, violence against women has begun to draw serious charge the police today are much less lenient than they used to be. According to the book Gender Crime in the UK most women live their lives in constant fear of being at risk for violence. Whether or not the woman has ever been a victim of violence she is still more fain to feel less safe throughout her life time than the average man. This is why when a woman has indeed had to deal with domestic violence her fear of violence and vulnerability increases so much more. It was stated that women who have been victims of violence end up having an wide-ranging list of health problems.Domestic violenceAccording to, The UK statistics on violence, 1 in 4 women may experience violence in their relationships with men. Severe, repeated and systemati c violence occurs in at least 5 of every hundred marriages in Britain Between 40 and 45% of hit women are killed by their male partners Between 1 and 2 women are murdered by their male partners every weekmore than 25% of all violent crime reported to the police is domestic violence of men against women, qualification it the second most common violent crime 100,000 women per year seek treatment in London for violent injuries received in the home 30,000 women and children bide in refuges in the UK every year In Wolverhampton, UK, 1 in 6 women had suffered some form of domestic abuse One quarter of all assaults are in domestic circumstances.Attrition in rapeAccording to (Gender Crime 2008) In the UK, it seems that there have been high rates of rape, yet low rates of conviction. Of all serious crimes it seems as though this crime is the least dealt with. These rapists are not getting put behind bars their cases are being dropped in the initial investigation stages and nothing furthe r is being done. Police are have been getting attacked about the amount of rape cases that they have been just letting slide by. Depending on where you live in the UK the number of rape cases the end in conviction vary. There is a disproportionate amount of championship services for people who have been raped. In the United States also referred to as the rape culture, it seems that rape is it seems rape statistics are as follows According to the FBI Uniform Crime Report, 1 out of every 4 women has been raped. There were 102,560 reported rapes or attempted rapes in 1990. The Bureau of Justice Statistics estimates that 130,000 women were victims of rape in 1990. The Justice discussion section says that 8 percent of all American women will be victims of rape or attempted rape in their lifetime. From an interview sample of 4,008 women, the study project that there were 683,000 rapes in 1990. Statistics have shown that in America 12.1 million American women, has or will be the victim of forcible rape sometime throughout her lifetime.Reconceptualizing domestic violence as tortureThe role of the Criminal Justice System in protecting womenIn the legal area, class action civic suits against police responded more slowly and with less seriousness to violent crimes committed between non strangers than they did to stranger crimes. Finally, social science researchers published scientific evidence claiming that arrest was more effective in deterring domestic violence than were other police responses, a development that fell neatly in line with the already ontogeny demands for more rigorous criminal justice system intervention. As has already been stated, in the past police have been more lenient on current types of violence but now they have been immediate in their response. Just about every violence against women report received ends in an arrest.Statistics on faithfulness enforcement (Commission on Domestic violence)Approximately 60% of family violence victimizations w ere reported to police between 1998 and 2002, up from about half between 1993 and 1998.Among felony assault defendants convicted in State courts, 45% of persons sent to prison for family assault received a sentence of more than 2 years, compared to 77% of non-family assault offenders sent to prison.Federal courts convicted 90% of defendants adjudicated for an interstate domestic violence offense.Black women (67%) reported their victimization to police at significantly high percentages than black men (48%), white men (45%), and white women (50%). No difference in white male and female percentages reporting emerged (45% versus 50%). Hispanic females reported intimate partner violence to the police at higher percentages than did non-Hispanic females (65% versus 52%).Among victims of violence by an intimate partner, the percentage of women who reported the crime was greater in 1998 (59%) than in 1993 (48%).In conclusion we can see that the United States and the United Kingdom have very similar statistics and ways in which they handle things. Laws seem to differ between the countries but other than that there are many similarities. Domestic violence and rape are the same where ever you are. Whether in the US or UK women are still less likely to report domestic violence or rape by someone they know.
